AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: CRHS improves to 5-0 with 38-25 win over All-Saints

TYLER — The Cross Roads LadyCats improved to 5-0 on the season with a 38-25 win over Tyler All Saints Tuesday night.

Coach Giff Durham’s team will play in the Big Sandy Tournament beginning today against Beckville.

Leading the way for the LadyCats was Paulette Burgess with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds, Rebecca Kramer had seven points and nine rebounds, Sara Spivey had six points and seven rebounds.

Teammates Kelsi Lookabaugh had two points and six rebounds, Cnail Wilson added two points.

Durham said Pepper Norwood, Kourtney Hazelip, Avery Newman and Kayla Penix contributed in the win.

Rusk takes down Brownsboro, 36-32

BROWNSBORO — The Brownsboro Bearettes lost a tough contest to Rusk, 36-32 Tuesday night.

Brownsboro jumped out to a 17-2 lead after the first quarter and held a 37-17 lead at the break.

Briana Warren led the Bearettes with nine points, Shelbie Bagby had five points, Devin Carver, Tamaria Manning and Sidney Hightower scored four points each.

Victoria Walker, M.J. Alexander and Madison Montgomery scored two points each.

In junior varsity action, Brownsboro scored a 32-7 win over Rusk, while the freshman won 54-1.

Brownsboro will return to the court today in the opening round of the Mt. Vernon tournament.

Bruce Field hosting playoff action

The No. 9-ranked White Oak Roughnecks and the Grandview Zebras will clash Friday at Bruce Field in a Region III-2A Division I area round matchup.

Kickoff is set for Friday at 7:30 p.m. It will mark the first week Bruce Field has hosted a playoff game. Gates will open at 6 p.m.

White Oak is 10-1 and coming off a 44-14 win over East Chambers last week.

Grandview improved to 9-2 last week with a 62-29 win over Trinity.

The Harris Ratings System has installed White Oak as a three-point favorite.
