ATHENS —
The Trinity Valley Community College Rodeo Team traveled to Uvalde for the South West Texas Junior College Rodeo October, 4-6.
Sophomore Justus Whitcher from Athens placed third in the first go in steer wrestling with a time of 4.4 seconds. Whitcher also placed third in the short go and third in the average.
Sophomore Garrett Jones from Forney split third in fourth in the first go in bareback with a score of 73. Garrett placed fourth in the short go with a score of 74 and fourth in the average.
The team’s next rodeo is this weekend in Mount Pleasant.
“Overall, the team did not have as good a rodeo as the first one, but I am blessed to have such a great group who work hard to be the best they can,” TVCC rodeo coach Brent Bratton said. “This seemed to be the rodeo where we drew some less than ideal stock, but that is what makes rodeo the exciting sport that it is. We will get them at the next one.”
