JUNIOR COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Ready for the playoff push

No. 10-TVCC thumps SE Prep, 86-7, in regular season finale

Athens — The No. 10-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Cardinals wrapped up regular season play with a dominating win over Southeast Prep, 86-7, in the regular season finale at Bruce Field.

“I told our kids that it is your responsibility to go out there and execute the plays that we call,” TVCC coach Brad Smiley said. “It is my job to mange the clock and I think we did a good job of that. I was happy that the kids went out there and did what we asked them to do and executed and played well.”

With the win, the Cardinals finished at 7-2 overall and will host the Blinn Buccaneers in the opening round of the playoffs this week. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

TVCC jumped out to a 51-7 lead after the first quarter and held a 72-7 lead at the half.

TVCC had 11 different players score touchdowns in the game with three players recording special teams touchdowns. D’Nerius Antione, Luis Lopez and Jarvis Baxter  had the scores.
