DISTRICT 7-2A CROSS COUNTRY MEET: EHS cross country sweeps first place at district meet

EUSTACE — The Cross Country teams competed at the District Meet Monday at Four Pines Ranch, just down the road here in Eustace.

The boys and girls JV and varsity teams were all meet champions.

And that qualifies the varsity teams for the regional meet.

The varsity girls team placed first overall and were lead by freshman Skye Burns who was also individual meet champion and ran a 13:24.

Next was Shelby White who placed third, Alyssa Shaddox and Chloe Moore placed fifth and sixth and Breanna Ragan placed 10th.

The varsity boys team placed first overall and were lead by junior Mark Zimmerer who placed second and ran a 17:11, next was Hunter Rose who placed third, Brandon Richardson placed fourth, Preston Schwartz placed seventh, and Ayden Reed placed eighth.

The JV girls also were meet champs and were lead by Chanda Westbrook who ran a 14:37 and got first overall, next was Noa Taylor who placed second, Monica Rojas and Payton Schwartz placed fourth and fifth and Jacey Warner placed 10th.

The JV boys were meet champions and were lead by a pack of Bulldogs.

The first place overall winner and meet champion was Zane Arambula leading the way with a time of 19:21, next was Gabe Purselley, Alec Marable, Michael Wong who placed second, third and fourth.

Teammates Elijah Rogers, Temple Hendrickson and  Brandon Hall who placed sixth, seventh, and eighth, and Thomas Henderson and Justin Legal finished 10th and 13th.

Kemp finished second in the varsity girls division also Kelsey Gage finished second in a time of 13:55.

Teammate Mikalia Guterriz and Madison Thompson qualified for regionals in the individual meet with eight and ninth place finishes.

In the varsity boys division, Kemp finished second in the team standings, while Malakoff was fourth.

Kemp’s Jesus Perez was the individual champion with a time of 17:00, while Jimmy Kimbrell was sixth in a time of 18:59.

Malakoff’s Rene Aguilar qualified with a time of 19:51 in ninth place.
