ATHENS —
The Athens Hornets pulled off a runaway win over the Rusk Eagles Friday night and got a very nice bonus.
With their 59-38 victory, combined with Brownsboro’s 62-52 win over Bullard, the Hornets qualified for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.
Anthony Sanders scored 19 points, Greg Sanders had 11 and Terrance Behan pitched in 10 as the Hornets built a big lead early and cruised to an easy win.
Athens head coach Tracy Carter opened with an all-senior starting lineup — Patrick Clark, Terrance Behan, Dewayne Hannah, Carter Harraid and Greg Sanders — and watched his team build a 9-0 lead in the first quarter.
Seniors Zach Basher and Corey Stuckey were also honored during pre-game ceremonies.
