FRUITVALE —
The Eustace Bulldogs came up short against the Fruitvale Bobcats, finishing second at the Fruitvale Tournament on Saturday.
The Bulldogs, who posted their second second-place in as many tournaments, fell to Fruitvale in the championship game, 48-34.
Head coach Chad Martinez’s Bulldogs got off to a slow start, falling behind Fruitvale after one quarter, 16-4. Fruitvale led at the half, 24-11.
John Bradburn led Eustace with 11 points. Kyle Wood added eight, Forrest Lane had six, Chance Scott netted five and Steven Stine finished with four.
The Bulldogs host Mineola in a non-district game Tuesday. Freshman action will begin at 4:30 p.m., with junior varsity and varsity to follow.

Mabank goes 2-2 at Fairfield tournament
FAIRFIELD — The Mabank Lady Panthers finished 2-2 at the Fairfield Tournament this past weekend.
Head coach Ashleigh Weeaks’ Lady Panthers defeated Buffalo, 45-30, and Waco University, 53-46, and lost to Corsicana, 54-27, and Diboll, 63-58. Kourtney Holyfield led the Lady Panthers in scoring in each game, netting 17, 15, 23 and 37 points in those four contests.
Malakoff runs past Cross Roads, 39-18
MALAKOFF — The Malakoff Lady Tigers jumped out to a fast start en route to a 39-18 win over the Cross Roads Lady Cats last Friday.
Head coach Emily Martinez’s Lady Tigers led, 10-1, after the first quarter.
Kiana Reed led Malakoff with 10 points. Candace Denis pitched in nine and Taye Jackson netted eight.
