ATHENS — ATHENS — Water level is 3.55 feet low and slightly stained. Water temp in the low 60s.  Lake regular Jerry Hanson says crappie fishing is excellent on shiners fished around brush piles in 15-20 feet of water. Some big bass to nine pounds.

Bass are good. Lots of small fish reported on spinnerbaits, shallow cranks and floating worms in 4-5 feet of water early and late. Midday bite is best on DD22 cranks and Carolina rigs in deeper water.

CEDAR CREEK — Water level is 3.48 feet low and stained. Water temp in the low 60s.

Fishing guide Jason Barber says white bass are good on slabs bounced in 8-16 feet of water on main points and humps. Blue cat are good to 25 pounds on cut shad soaked in four feet of water around timber lines. Lots of fish milling around the shallows.

Black bass are hitting spinnerbaits, jigs and cranks fished around rock structures and boat docks. Crappie are good on jigs and shiners fished around brush in 10-20 feet of water. Duck hunting has been good. Fair numbers of teal, shovelers and a few mallards are down.

PALESTINE — Water level is 1.73 feet low and fairly clear. Surface temp in the low 60s.

Fishing guide Ricky Vandergriff says bass are good to four pounds around boat houses in 5-6 feet of water using 3/8 ounce black blue jigs and black blue brush hogs. Docks with brush are best.

Crappie are good at the Highway 155 crossing and brush piles in 20 feet of water, mainly on black/green and white/pink jigs and small minnows. Catfish are excellent on trotlines, jugs and rod and reel. Night crawlers and punch bait are the ticket on channel cat and blues. Cut shad and small perch are producing bigger cats. White bass are slow. A few fish schooling. Best results are coming ledges and points in 18 feet of water using spoons.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS — RC is 4.23 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the low 60s.

Black bass are hitting spinnerbaits and plastics in 3-6 feet of water near channel breaks. White bass are good in 15-25 feet of water on points, mainly on slabs. A few limits reported by all-day anglers.

Catfish are good windy points and shorelines using punch bait. Cormorant roosts in 4-5 feet of water also are holding fish. Shad and punch bait is working best. Crappie are slow.

TOLEDO BEND — Fishing guide Danny Iles says bass fishing has been fair. The fish are scattered shallow to deep. Swim jigs and swim baits are working for quality fish around pepper grass beds; jigs flipped around hydrilla in 8-10 feet also are producing some decent size. Iles expects the deep bite to become increasingly productive once water temps drop a few more degrees.

Crappie are scattered. A few fish still hanging around brush piles, taking jigs and shiners. Catfish are good to 30 pounds on trotline tipped with cut perch and live bait. Rod and reelers picking up channels and a few blues on night crawlers and cut shad.

SAM RAYBURN — Water level is 4.39 feet low and clear. Water temp in the low 60s. Fishing guide Danny Iles says bass are good to three pounds on swim jigs and Traps worked around shallow grass. A few fish also reported on frogs. In deeper water Carolina rigs, Texas rigs and cranks are good for some solid bass in the in 4-6 pound range. Deep cranks are working on river ledges.

Crappie are fair over brush piles in 18-22 feet using shiners. Catfish are good around baited holes in 8-16 feet.

NACOGDOCHES — Water level is 3.05 feet low and clear. Surface temp in the low 60s.

Bass are fair. Anglers are reporting some small fish on wacky worms, shallow cranks and lipless cranks fished around shallow grass. Not many quality fish reported.

Crappie fishermen are picking up partial limits around brush piles using shiners and jigs.

NACONICHE - Water level is at full pool and clear. Water temp in the low 60s.

Bass are fair on Texas rigs soaked and timber and brush timber at the upper reaches of the creeks in four feet of water. A few fish also hitting jigs, Texas rigs and topwaters tossed around main lake grass beds.

Crappie are fair on jigs worked along outside grass edges and the bridge crossing.

FORK — Water level is 4.29 feet low and clear. Water temp in the low 60s and upper 50s.

Bass fishing has been good. Tail spinners and spoons are producing good numbers of slot fish on ridges and humps. In shallower water the fish are hanging along channel breaks in 3-5 feet. Also, crappie fishermen are reporting lots of encounters with big bass at bridge crossings.

Catfish are excellent over baited holes.

PINKSTON — Water level is about 3 1/2 feet low and stained. Water temp in the low 60s.

Fishing guide Alan Spruiell says crappie are fair around brush piles in 20 feet of water, holding about three feet off bottom. A few partial limits reported on shiners. Bass fishing traffic has been very light lately. A few fish still reported schooling on the main lake. Lots of activity around outside grass edges.
