HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: MHS Lady Panthers beat Spring Hill, 3-0

Athens — The Mabank Lady Panthers advanced to the Class 4A, Division II area round with a 3-0 win over the Spring Hill Lady Panthers on Tuesday night.

Mabank is scheduled to face the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers this weekend.

Playoff details were not known as of press time.

With 13 minutes left in the opening half, Mabank got on the board with a shot from Kaitlyn Baker from 25 yard out on their first shot on goal of the game.

Spring Hill went into halftime with a 6-1 shot on goal advantage as Mabank keeper Bailey Swain recorded five saves.

Mabank scored its second goal of the game off of the foot of Megan Holyfield from about 20-yards out in the eighth minute.

Holyfield scored her second goal of the game with 11:30 left on a rebound in the net for the 3-0 win.

This was the second time this season that the two teams have faced each other. Mabank defeated Spring Hill, 2-0, on Jan. 9.

Mabank finished the year as the top seed out of District 31-4A play.

The winner of the Mabank-Mt. Pleasant contest will face either Kilgore or Pleasant Grove in the sectional round April 3-5.
