ATHENS —
10 teams prepare for battle this weekend as the Athens Lady Hornets host their soccer tournament this weekend.
The Lady Hornets will be in Pool A with Palestine, Kaufman, Lufkin Hudson and Corsicana.
AHS opens the tournament on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. against the Palestine Lady Wildcats.
They will return to the pitch Thursday afternoon against the Corsicana Lady Tigers at 1:30 p.m.
On Friday, the Lady Hornets will battle Kaufman at 8:30 a.m., followed by Lufkin Hudson at 2:45 p.m.
All games are scheduled for Bruce Field.
In Pool B, the Mabank Lady Panthers will face off against Sulphur Springs, Terrell and Jacksonville.
Mabank was scheduled to face Terrell in the opening round, but Terrell was forced to forfeit that game.
The Lady Panthers will now open the tournament Friday morning at 9:45 a.m. against the Sulphur Springs LadyCats.
They will wrap up pool play Friday evening against Jacksonville. First kick for that game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The championship will be held on Saturday with the top 2 seeds from each pool battling it out for first-third in the tournament.

Game 2 — Jacksonville vs. Sulphur Springs 12:15 p.m.
Game 3 — Mabank vs. bye 4:15 p.m.

Game 5 — Jacksonville receives bye
