ATHENS — Here is the East Texas Fishing Report for the week of June 10:

ATHENS — Water level is 2.38 feet low and stained. Water temp in the low 80s.

Bobby Spearman at Lake Athens Marina says bass are good on Carolina rigs dragged in 22-28 feet of midday. Topwaters are producing some solid fish early and lake around pads and grass.

Crappie are slow. Bream are excellent under docks and under the bridge, mainly on crickets.

CEDAR CREEK — Water levels 3.64 feet low and stained. Water temp in the high 70s, low 80s.

Fishing guide Jason Barber says catfishing has been excellent on humps in 9-16 feet of water using cut shad. The fish are biting out to 25 feet. Crappie are good on brush piles, bridges and main lake stumps in 16-18 feet of water.

Black bass are good on boat docks with available water and around rocks at the dam. Texas rigs, Carolina rigs, cranks and topwaters have all been effective.

White bass and hybrids are piled up on humps, hitting spoons, slabs and flutter spoons in 10-25 feet of water.

RICHLAND CHAMBERS — RC is 6.24 feet low and stained to clear. Water temp in the upper 70s, low 80s.

Larry Winters at Midway Landing says catfishing is good in 12-18 feet around standing timber. Baited and un-baited areas producing equally well, mainly on punch bait.

Crappie are good in 18-30 feet of water, suspended at 7-15 feet around timber. White bass are schooling on main lake points early, hitting 'Traps and topwaters, then switching to slabs in 25 feet of water during midday.

Black bass are slow. A few fish hitting plastics in 4-6 feet of water around grass.

PALESTINE — Water is 0.12 feet low and muddy up north, clear down south. Water temp in the in the upper 70s.

Black bass are good up north using frogs around grass. Down south, boat houses are holding fish. Early in the day throw topwaters, spinnerbaits and Shimmy Shakers, then switching to Texas rigs and jigs. There are also fish on points hitting Texas rigs, Carolina rigs and deep cranks. Crappie have slowed down somewhat. Best catches coming on brush piles in 14 feet of water, mostly on minnows.

Catfish are good in shallow water using night crawlers and punch bait. Boat houses, rocks and retaining walls also holding fish. White bass are fair early using 'Traps and topwaters, then switching to slabs.

NACOGDOCHES — Water level is about nine inches low and fairly clear. Water temp in the upper 70s, low 80s.

Bass fishing has been fair to 3 1/2 pounds on wacky worms and soft jerk baits worked slowly around shallow grass beds and lily pads. Areas near channels and slight breaks are holding the most fish.

Crappie fishermen are picking up a few keepers around brush piles in deep water.

FORK — Water level is 4.52 feet low and clear. Water temp in the upper 70s, low 80s.

Fishing guide Gary Paris says bass fishing has been outstanding as of late. Lots of good quality fish coming on Texas rig worms and deep cranks worked in 12-20 feet of water worked along isolated stumps. An 11 pounder won the Skeeter Owner's tournament last weekend. Frogs, spinnerbaits and Texas rigs are working in 2-8 feet of water around hydrilla beds. Paris says the hydrilla is in great shape, growing at depths out to eight feet on both sides of the lake.

Crappie fishing is good on shiners and jigs worked around brush piles in 15-25 feet. Good numbers of catfish and bream shallow. White bass are good on points and main lake humps using slabs.

TOLEDO BEND — Water level is 1.48 feet low and clear. Water temp in the low 80s.

Fishing guide Danny Iles says bass fishing has been good in shallow, mid-range and deep water. Shallow bite is best around pepper grass on frogs, wacky worms and soft jerk baits. Mid-range and deep use a Series 5 Strike King crank or Texas rig plastic.

Crappie fishing is excellent. A few fish hanging around outside grass edges. Best bite has been around brush in 25-30 feet. The fish are suspended about 12 feet down.

Trotlines are producing good numbers of quality blue cat up north. Cut and live perch producing equally well.

PINKSTON — Water level is at full pool and clear. Water temp in the low 80s.

Bass fishermen are reporting some solid fish up to eight pounds on Texas rigs and Carolina rigs worked around brush and drop offs. Some good quality fish also coming soft jerk baits and wacky worms fished along outside grass lines.

Crappie are good on jigs fished along outside grass lines and around isolated brush piles.

SAM RAYBURN — Water level is 2.20 feet low and fairly clear. Water temp in the mid-80s.

Fishing guide Danny Iles says the shallow bite has been hit or miss using Pop-Rs and frogs around shallow grass from the bank out to 6-8 feet, lots of small fish and several good ones reported. Deeper bite is producing fish on Texas rigs and Carolina rigs in 10-35 feet.
