Athens — For the fifth time in one year, the No. 1-ranked Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals sent Blinn back home to Brenham with a loss on their record.

This time, the Lady Cardinals dominated from the start in a 105-70 thumping on the friendly confines of Leon Spencer court at Cardinal Gym.

The win also snapped a 10 game winning streak for Blinn and was the 51st win for the Lady Cardinals at home.

It was also the 100th game as a head coach for TVCC’s Elena Lovato.

With the win, the Lady Cardinals are now 15-1 on the season and 4-0 in Region XIV conference play. TVCC will be on the road for the next two games at Jacksonville on Saturday and then head to Kilgore next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

The two teams will meet up again on January 29 in Brenham for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a big lead at the intermission on Wednesday with a strong effort on both ends of the floor.

TVCC jumped out to a, 24-12, lead with 12:03 remaining in the first half as guard Roddricka Patton found teammate Deborah Meeks for an easy layup.

Following that basket, the Lady Bucs were unable to cut the lead to within 10 points the remainder of the half.

The Lady Cardinals were able to contain Blinn sophomore Fatima Adams — who came into the game averaging 35 points per game in conference to 11 points. Adams scored seven of those points in the first half of play.

In the second half of play, the Lady Cardinals continued to find ways to disrupt the Lady Bucs offense as they scored 13 buckets but committed 10 turnovers in the half.

For the Lady Cardinals, Shlonte’ Allen led the way with a game-high 24 points, while Jazmine Spears added 20 points. Patton had 15 points in the win and Autummn Williams had 12 points.

Meeks and Adut Bulgak rounded out the double figure scorers as they combined for 10 points each in the game.
