HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER: Athens soccer swept by Whitehouse Tuesday night

Athens — The Athens Lady Hornets are now 8-8-3 overall and 5-3 in District 31-4A play with a 4-1 win over the Lindale Lady Eagles and a 7-0 loss to Whitehouse.

Against Lindale on Friday, Athens had a hat trick from freshman Kyra Robison and one goal from freshman Makayle Traxson.

Robison opened the scoring with a goal five minutes into the game off an assist from Traxson.

She then scored her second goal in the 14th minute off another assist from Traxson.

Lindale then cut the deficit to, 2-1, in the 39th minute before Traxson scored her goal in the 62nd minute on an assist from Clarissa Escobar.

Robison then rounded out the scoring in the 74th minute to end the scoring at 4-1.

Athens will wrap up a two-game homestand Friday night against the Mabank Lady Panthers. The junior varsity is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

In boys action, the Hornets lost to Whitehouse, 3-0, and were eliminated from the playoff race.

In junior varsity action, Athens won 2-1 over Whitehouse.

Athens (4-16-0) will face Mabank Friday night in Mabank. The junior varsity is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
