Eustace’s loss is a gain

Wills Point wins, 54-21, but Bulldogs clinch

WILLS POINT — The Wills Point Tigers turned the tables on the high-scoring Eustace Bulldogs in a 54-21 win Friday night.

But Van’s win over the Canton Eagles Friday night officially put Head Coach Doug Wendel’s Bulldogs into the playoffs.

It marks the first time the Bulldogs have made consecutive playoff appearances since going three years straight from 1985 to 1987.

The teams slugged it out in the first half, with Wills Point leading at halftime, 27-21. But the Tigers shut out the Bulldogs in the second half and put 27 more points on the board.

Justin Calhoun had a pair of touchdown runs for Eustace, and Chris Compton also scored on a run.

Eustace closes out the regular season at home against Van Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
