Openings remain for second ADRPL season

Calling all prognosticators!

Openings remain for the second season of theAthens Daily Review Prediction League (ADRPL)

ADRPL is a chance for 20 participants to compete head-to-head in a league in which they predict the outcome of 10 games each week.

The league champion will receive $100 and a plaque upon conclusion of the 10-week regular season and two weeks of playoffs.

There will also be a weekly winner each week of the regular season. The team scoring the most points will receive a small prize in the form of a gift certificate.

To secure participation in the league, send an e-mail to sportseditor@athensreview.com with your name, address, phone number. Put "Prediction League" as the subject.

All participants must have an e-mail address or access to e-mail. All league correspondence will be via e-mail.

Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The first 20 to respond will be accepted and will be notified via e-mail.

HOW IT WORKS

’Limited to 20 entries (for entire season) on a first-come, first-serve basis.

’ Must have an e-mail address or access to e-mail. All league correspondence will be via e-mail.

’ To participate, send an e-mail to sportseditor@athensreview.com with your name, address and phone number. Put Prediction League as the subject. The first 20 to respond will be accepted and notified via e-mail.

’ Participants will predict the outcome of 10 games each week and go head-to-head against another participant.

’ The 10 games will be assigned a point value. Participants will receive those points for correct predictions, which will add up to their score for the week. Outcome of games will be determined by points, not correct guesses.

’ Standings will be based on won-loss records.

’ Ties in games will be broken by a weekly tiebreaker of combined points in a selected game. To break the tie, one point will be given to the league team closest to the actual point total without going over. Should both league teams go over, the league team closest to the actual point total will be assigned the point.

’ League will consist of 12 weeks (10 for the regular season and 2 for the playoffs).

’ League play begins the weekend of Sept. 5-7.

’ Winner of the league will receive $100 and a plaque.

’ The team scoring the most points each week will be the weekly winner and will receive a small prize, likely a gift certificate. In the event of a tie, the most correct predictions will determine the winner. If still tied, a drawing will determine the winner.

’ League will consist of 20 teams, divided into four divisions of five. The North Division and the South Division will compete in the American Conference. The East Division and the West Division will compete in the National Conference. The first-place team in the North Division will play the first-place team in the South Division for the American Conference title in the first week of the playoffs. The first-place team in the East Division will play the first-place team in the West Division for the National Conference title in the first week of the playoffs. The two conference winners will play in the second week of the playoffs for the league championship.

’ Each team will play 10 regular season games.

’ Tiebreakers for division standings at end of 10-game regular season will be: (1) head-to-head; (2) points scored; (3) correct predictions and (4) drawing.

’ Contest games will be e-mailed to participants by no later than Thursday the week before the games are to be played.

’ All predictions must be submitted via e-mail by 6 p.m. on Monday. Predictions received after the deadline will result in contestant receiving no points for his/her team that week.

’ In the event predictions aren’t submitted by the deadline, home teams will be assigned a prediction. If the game is at a neutral site, the team not favored to win will be assigned.

’ League standings and predictions will be published on Friday throughout the season.

’ Other league rules/guidelines may be added before the start of the season.

’ All decisions by the league commissioner are final.
