See Cross Roads-Grapeland coverage Monday

Coverage of the Class A best-of-three regional quarterfinal baseball series between the Cross Roads Bobcats and Grapeland Sandies will be included in Monday’s Athens Daily Review.

The Palestine Herald-Press, our sister publication, will be covering the games and provide us information.

Coach Robert Hughes’ Bobcats won the District 21-A title for a second straight year. Cross Roads swept Chester in a best-of-three area round series last week.

Grapeland won the 23-A championship and outlasted Cushing in a three-game area round series last week.

Brownsboro football camp set June 2-5

The annual Brownsboro High School football camp is scheduled June 2-5.

The non-contact camp for students entering grades 2-8 is scheduled from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each day at the Track Stadium located across from BHS on Hwy. 31.

The camp fee is $35, which includes a backpack, camp t-shirt and certificate of participation. Certificates for team and individual competition winners will also be awarded.

BHS athletic director/head football coach John Settle will conduct the camp and will be assisted by his staff.

The camp will feature emphasize fundamentals, proper conditioning and nutrition and goal setting.

Annual TVCC golf tourney set June 9

The annual golf tournament to benefit the captial campaign at Trinity Valley Community College is scheduled Monday, June 9, at Athens Country Club.

The entry fee is $60 per player, which includes lunch.

The entry deadline is Friday, May 30, but the tournament will be limited to 31 teams. Individuals not affiliated with a team will be placed on a team.

Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Tee time is noon with a shotgun start.

The four-person scramble will feature a number of prizes, including free rounds of golf. The format will ensure each team an equal opportunity to win a prize regardless of the level of ability.
