If you were born after Sept. 2, 1971, you need to pass a mandatory Hunter Safety class before you can legally shoot ducks, deer and other game in Texas. The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will offer classes throughout the summer, starting in May.
Traditional, 2-day classes will be held at the Richard M. Hart and Johnny Morris Conservation Center building Fridays from 6:00pm-10:00pm and Saturdays from 8:00am-5:00pm. The cost is $15 per person and space is limited to 40 people per class. Reservations are required, no walk-ins. Class dates are May 30, August 15, September 19, and October 17, 2008,
For those taking the home study or online courses, there will be one-day field classes offered on the following dates: May 31, July 19, August 16, September 20, and October 18, 2008. The cost for the field class will be $15 per person and space is limited to 40 people. Reservations are required, no walk-ins.

Annual TVCC golf
tourney set June 9
The annual golf tournament to benefit the captial campaign at Trinity Valley Community College is scheduled Monday, June 9, at Athens Country Club.
The entry fee is $60 per player, which includes lunch.
The entry deadline is Friday, May 30, but the tournament will be limited to 31 teams. Individuals not affiliated with a team will be placed on a team.
Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Tee time is noon with a shotgun start.
The four-person scramble will feature a number of prizes, including free rounds of golf. The format will ensure each team an equal opportunity to win a prize regardless of the level of ability.
