The start of the Class A regional quarterfinal series between the Cross Roads Bobcats and Grapeland Sandies has been delayed due to heavy rains Wednesday.
The best-of-three series, scheduled to start in Jacksonville tonight at 7, is now set to start at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Game 2 will follow. Should a third game be necessary, it would be played at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Coach Robert Hughes’ Cross Roads squad defeated Chester in a best-of-three area round playoff series played Friday and Saturday at Rusk. The Bobcats were a 10-5 winner in Game 1 Friday and posted a 5-4 win in eight eight innings Saturday. Grapeland outlasted Cushing in three games, winning the first and third.
The Cross Roads-Grapeland winner advances to face the Maud-Carlisle winner in the regional semifinals next week.
