Bobcats advance to regional quarterfinals

The Cross Roads Bobcats defeated Chester in a best-of-three area round playoff series played Friday and Saturday at Rusk. The Bobcats were a 10-5 winner in Game 1 Friday and posted a 5-4 win in eight eight innings Saturday.

Coach Robert Hughes’ Cross Roads squad, the District 21-A champion for a second straight year, will next face 23-A champion Grapeland in regional quarterfinal action later this week. Grapeland defeated Cushing in the area round in three games, 7-3, 11-14 and 11-1.

The Cross Roads-Grapeland series is scheduled to begin Thursday at 7 p.m. in Jacksonville. Game 2 is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, also in Jacksonville. Should a third game be needed, it would be played at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jacksonville.

The Cross Roads-Grapeland winner advances to face the Maud-Carlisle winner in the regional semifinals next week.
