— Eustace drops bi-district series opener, 5-3
GREENVILLE — The Eustace Bulldogs’ first playoff appearance since 1989 began with a 5-3 loss to Pittsburg in Game 1 of a best-of-three bi-district series Thursday night at Greenville High School.
Coach Chris Powers’ Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action at 3 p.m. Saturday, also at Greenville High School. Should a t hird game be necessary, it would be played 30 minutes upon the conclusion of Game 2.
Pittsburg had six hits and the Bulldogs seven.
Lucas Cope was tagged with the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs were charged with two errors and Pittsburg one.
Cross Roads banquet Monday at Cain Center
The annual Cross Roads Athletic Banquet is scheduled Monday, May 12.
The event will be held at Cain Center beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 each and are on sale at the high school office. No tickets will be available at the door.
The banquet is sponsored by the Cross Roads Athletic Booster Club.

Annual TVCC golf tourney set June 9
The annual golf tournament to benefit the captial campaign at Trinity Valley Community College is scheduled Monday, June 9, at Athens Country Club.
The entry fee is $60 per player, which includes lunch.
The entry deadline is Friday, May 30, but the tournament will be limited to 31 teams. Individuals not affiliated with a team will be placed on a team.
Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Tee time is noon with a shotgun start.
The four-person scramble will feature a number of prizes, including free rounds of golf. The format will ensure each team an equal opportunity to win a prize regardless of the level of ability.

Coaches: Deadline near for nominations
High school baseball and softball coaches are reminded the deadline to submit nominations for the 2008 All-Henderson County area baseball and softball teams is Monday.
For a player to be considered for the teams, he/she must be nominated by his/her coach.
The teams will be announced either later this month or in early June.
