Cross Roads extended Dawson's losing streak to 33 consecutive games as the Bobcats rolled to a 55-26 victory Friday at home.
Tyler Johnson opened the scoring for Cross Roads with a 4-yard run on the team's second possession of the game.
A Dawson fumbled led to the Cats next score with Johnson cashing in from 9 yards out.
Trailing 12-0 Dawson put points on the board with a 52-yard run by Ian Norwood but trailed 12-8 with 2:10 left in the first.
Another fumble by Dawson led to the next Cross Roads score when Aaron Arden found Trey Hazelip on a 6-yard pass.
Not settled with the close margin, Cross Roads recovered an onside kick before Johnson scored again making it 26-8 in favor of the home team.
Both teams exchange fumbles before Dawson scores on a Norwood 9-yard run just before half.
Trailing 26-14 entering the third Dawson used the legs of Lane Dodson to cut the lead to six points, 26-20, as he scored from 60 yards out.
Following a good kick return from Blake McKraken, Arden completed a 34-yard pass to Hazelip before Tyler Johnson scored on 10-yard run. Arden to Hazelip two-point conversion was good and with 9:12 in third Cross Roads led 34 to 20.
A pass from Arden to Hunter Davis made it 41-20 in favor of Cross Roads with 5:25 to play in the third.
Dodson scored again for Dawson to cut the lead to 41-26 before Arden scored on a 4-yard run for the Bobcats.
Cross Roads had two touchdowns called back for holding on its next possession before finally hitting to 50-point mark with Johnson's fifth touchdown of the night.
Cross Roads head coach Jim Bradford commented that “the boys put out a great effort and played hard. They overcame some mistakes and the coaches made adjustments. They really played their hearts out in the second half.”
