Candidates must be detailoriented and possess a medical clerical background with knowledge of medical terminology and documentation. Claims management is a plus. Must be certified EMT, LPN or Medical Assistant. Experience in an emergency room or industrial environment is a plus. Industrial health/workmen's compensation experience preferred.

City, ISD filing opens

Think nothing’s changing on the local political front?
Well, now’s the time to throw your hat into the election ring and have a hand in making the changes you’d like to see made.
Filing for seats on the Athens City Council and Athens Independent School District Board of Trustees opened Monday.
Anyone interested in becoming a candidate for the May 12 municipal election can file for a place on the ballot until 5 p.m. March 12.
City officials have packets available with instructions on how to file, at Athens City Hall, located at 508 E. Tyler St.
“All they have to do is pick up a packet, follow the instructions and drop their completed application back to me,” City Secretary Pam Watson said Monday. “We’ve already had two people file today.”
Municipal seats up for grabs in May are the mayoral seat, held by Mayor Randy Daniel; and the council place 1 seat, held by Councilman Bob Gould.
“Anyone can run for these at-large seats,” Watson said.
Anyone interested in running for a seat on the school board can pick up the filling packet at the AISD Administration office, 104 Hawn St.
“There are certain qualifications a filer needs to meet,” said Janet Wilson, executive secretary to the superintendent.
Those qualifications include U.S. citizenship; being at least 18 years old; having no felony convictions; and residency in Athens school district for at least six months.
“They’ll have to pick what place they want to run for as well,” Wilson said.
Trustee seats up for reelection are place 5, held by Trustee Peggy Rhodes; place 6, held by David Freeman; and place 7, held by Robert Spears.
“We haven’t had anyone file so far (Monday),” Wilson said.
