MAIL CALL: Are you one of the massive number of uninsured?

Are you one of the 47 million people in the U.S. that is uninsured?

If so, you and about 5 million other Texas have been the victims of the NO vote that was cast by Rep. Jeb Hensarling when he voted against health insurance reform in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Nearly 1 million Texans are currently unemployed, and most probably lost their insurance when they lost their jobs.

If you are one of them, then you too are a victim of the NO vote cast by Jeb Hensarling, your Congressman.

If the health insurance reform legislation is also passed in the U.S. Senate, there will be another vote in the U.S. House of Representatives on the conference bill.

If you, like me, think that a NO vote is a vote against 5 million Texans, then you should contact your representative. He will be up for re-election in November, 2010. He should hear from you.

The price of the reform is not justification for a NO vote. The estimated total cost of health care in America for 2009 is 2.5 trillion dollars.

Even assuming no annual increase in this number, the 10-year expenditure is 25 trillion dollars. The cost of the reform legislation over this 10-year period is about 1/25th of the annual cost.

Moreover, the legislation would implement cost-savings features that the Congressional Budget Office admits that it did not include in its estimates of 10-year costs because it cannot estimate savings.

Don’t you deserve better than this?

    One of the few advantages of growing older is that you can schedule the taking of your prescription drugs, based on  your own personal alarm clock.
    From what I’ve been told by the older folks, of which I’m a very borderline member, if you can’t remember any other time to take your pills, do it the first time your bladder wakes  you up in the middle of the night.

    If you were to ask the question, “What do the Christian Left and atheists have in common?” the answer might be that many of them believe in the modern version of separation of church and state. I believe the difference between them is that the Christian Left is just uninformed about the historical truths, while the atheist is being guided, knowingly or not, by the hand of Satan.
