MAIL CALL: My view of the political forum different from writer’s

I don't know what political forum staff writer Robby Robertson reported on last Thursday morning at Republican Headquarters, but it sure was different from the one I attended that morning.

Frankly, Lance Gooden looked like Ned and the First Reader compared to Rep. Brown. It is my understanding that this young man is currently unemployed, lived in Kaufman only a few years during his teens, and just recently came back from Houston to run for State Rep. His only political experience was one term working for Ms. Brown as an aide, and even then he quit before the term was up.

He put out the usual tired platitudes about "time for a change," and Rep. Brown not being available. Where has this kid been? Rep. Brown is at every event I go to, and many that I don't make. She has always been available any time I've had a question or concern. Right now, she is helping a group of us with a complaint against a local state licensed company.

She is even attending our next meeting.

I don't recall one fresh idea that Mr. Gooden came up with. We need someone who knows who to go to, how to get things done in Austin, and understands the importance of representing a wide and varied constituency. Ms. Brown has filled that role superbly the whole time she has been in office.

I am embarrassed that our local paper would put out such a bias coverage.

    One of the few advantages of growing older is that you can schedule the taking of your prescription drugs, based on  your own personal alarm clock.
    From what I’ve been told by the older folks, of which I’m a very borderline member, if you can’t remember any other time to take your pills, do it the first time your bladder wakes  you up in the middle of the night.

    If you were to ask the question, “What do the Christian Left and atheists have in common?” the answer might be that many of them believe in the modern version of separation of church and state. I believe the difference between them is that the Christian Left is just uninformed about the historical truths, while the atheist is being guided, knowingly or not, by the hand of Satan.
