MAIL CALL: Regarding ‘Lance Gooden Takes Brown to Task’

The Athens Review

Athens — With good reason, State Representative Betty Brown’s campaign, as well as others in the audience, took exception to a recent article printed in the Review.  It was not representative of the actual event, as many attendees have pointed out.  Many of Betty’s supporters have urged the campaign to submit the following rebuttal.

The “smears” that Gooden’s campaign refers to is actually the verified facts that Gooden just recently moved his voter registration from Houston to Kaufman County so he could run for office.  He even recently voted in a State Representative election in Houston, where he has been living and working.  Yet, months later, he is running to be your State Representative.

Voters deserve to know that Gooden does not own a home, or pay property taxes, in this area, and never has.

For Gooden to accuse Betty Brown, one of the most conservative members of the Texas House, of being a liberal is ludicrous.  But, to make any comparison between Betty and former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith is disgusting.

I know that Representative Brown has appreciated the calls and e-mails from local conservative business owners, doctors, retirees, homemakers and teachers that are surprised by the personal attacks being directed toward her.  She assures them, she remains focused on representing Henderson and Kaufman Counties.

The above facts are verified by Henderson and Kaufman Counties’ Appraisal Records and Texas Secretary of State Records.
