Athens — Not many are aware of the surcharge that is placed on traffic offenders of invalid Tx drivers license, expired TDL (you no longer receive a reminder), no insurance or alcohol related offense.
Not only do you pay a local fine to the municipal court, but for the next three (3) years you are punished further with a substantial fine payable to a State fund.
If this is not paid each year after your “conviction,” then you are really in trouble. Not only does the fine amount increase, but your TDL is revoked.
How many in Henderson County, alone, are driving around without a TDL because they can not afford to pay this unjustified fine? Further more, how many drivers are unaware of this.
Beware of the leaders of your State that endorsed this political scam. Two, that I know of, are up for re-election. Hefty surcharges for Texas drivers with violations remain mostly uncollected. You will be appalled.
