MAIL CALL: Questions about school’s next proposed bond

The audacity of the school board and superintendent in their meeting saying they will build a new first grade through third campus, acting as though they already have this money! No consideration whatever for the taxpayers.

We will have this election in July — like it or not. They think we don’t need information — we are just supposed to sit there fat, dumb and pay the bills.

Who will supervise the construction of this project? Surely not the superintendent of schools. Where does this cost figure come from? We would like a general line item budget showing what expense will be from what item. You certainly must have numbers already prepared for that. How many bids have you gotten on this project? The taxpayers have a right to know what they are paying for.

Dr. Fred Hayes said the board might also add improvements to South Athens Elementary in the Daily Review of June 26. That will be another $3.75 million more, adding up to 25.25 million. How generous of them to take off $3.25 million! If they needed $28.5 million in the first place, what was the $3.25 million for?

My opinion is that we need a recall of our entire school board.

Remember folks, it’s your tax money!
