MAIL CALL: Credit where credit is due

Dear editor,

You had a nice article in the paper about the 4th of July fireworks and I appreciate the coverage. You did a great job pointing out who donated to make this happen, however I did not see any mention of the two persons who, without their work, this event would not have occurred. I’m speaking of Carol Morton and Peggy Gould. We would not have any fireworks if Carol and Peggy did not work diligently to drum up support and encourage all those you mentioned to invest in Athens’ goodwill and make the 4th so special.

This is a special event for Athens and I am very proud of all who contributed to make this happen. I am more proud though of those, like Carol and Peggy, who had the vision and the energy to make a dream a reality.

W. C. (Bill) Jones, Jr.
