Lately, Athens has come alive with joyful talent, music and fun.
The Cardettes spring show “Childhood Memories,” was absolutely an unforgettable performance. They, including the boys, out performed any group in the state of Texas. What a tribute to this town. Thank you Darla Mansfield and all of your choreographers for an evening of excellent entertainment.
Next came the Trinity Valley Community College music department and their presentation of the spring show. Never have you seen nor heard so much talent. Another real tribute to the city of Athens. We are very fortunate to have the leadership of Dr. McGilvray and Will Fairbanks. Thank you for a job well done. The music filled the air with majestic sounds.
Last but far from least was the Arboretum gala from “Sea to Shining Sea.” You could not have asked for a more fabulous enjoyable evening. Tasty treats from Boston, San Francisco and San Antonio, Texas, and the entertainment could not have been better. You felt like you were in that city at each location. This evening was far from anything Athens has seen in a long time. Thanks to all the people involved in bringing to the public this fantastic festive event. Next year cannot come soon enough.
A huge thank you to the many Arboretum volunteers who have given their time and effort to make a place of beauty for all to see and enjoy.
