LaVerne Wheeler

Athens — Services for LaVerne Wheeler, 84, of Athens are scheduled for Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Eric Graham and Billy Wheeler officiating.

Burial will follow in Goshen Cemetery, in Eustace.

Mrs. Wheeler died on March 10, 2010, in Athens.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1925, in Henderson County to the late Albert D. and Irene Dixon Richardson and was a lifelong resident of the county. She was employed more than 20 years as Tres’ Bon Manufacturing in Eustace and was a member of First Baptist Church in Eustace.

Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her husband, I. W. “Boots” Wheeler; and a brother, Derwood Richardson.

Survivors include sons, Dwayne K. Wheeler, of Palmdale, Calif.; William “Billy” Wheeler and wife, Charlotte, of Athens; daughters, Helen Henderson and husband, Allan, of Ally; Nancy Rhea and husband, Ricky, of Athens; 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Allon Henderson, Jr., Tony Smith, Jason Dixon, Rusty Baker, Mike Wheeler and Jason Rhea.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Rhea, Jeffrey Rhea and John Goebel.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
