ATHENS — Memorial service for Earl B. Brizendine, 78, of Corpus Christi, formerly of Athens, are scheduled for Saturday, March 13, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Athens at 11 a.m.
Earl Brizendine passed away on Feb. 9, in hospice care in Corpus Christi, after a prolonged illness.
Mr. Brizendine was born on Oct. 22, 1931, to the late Ruth Inez and William Kimmie Brizendine, of Palestine.
After graduation from high school, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force as a chaplain’s assistant.
After leaving military service, he became an operating room technician, working at Spohn and Memorial hospitals in Corpus Christi. Later at the age of 30, he became a certified X-ray technician, graduating first in his class. He received the prestigious Ballencroft award for outstanding performance in this field.
Mr. Brizendine is survived by friends of many years, Benny Ledford; and sisters, Sadie and Mary Ann; brother, Robert Brizendine and his wife, Natouko, of Arlington; sister, Maxine Taylor, of Athens; five nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; and one great great-niece.
