Larry Dennis Rittenhouse

Athens — Athens — Services for Larry Dennis Rittenhouse, Jr., 55, of Athens, are scheduled for Friday at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home chapel in Athens at 2 p.m., with Scott Griffith officiating. 

Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

He passed away on March 8, 2010, in Athens. 

Larry was born on Oct. 6, 1954, in Athens, to Larry and Dorothy Muchow Rittenhouse. He lived all of his life in this area and graduated from Athens High School in 1973. Music was his passion, playing the guitar and singing. Larry also loved nature and all things outdoors. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by one son, Larry Dennis Rittenhouse III, of Tampa, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Jessica and Kenneth Poovey, of Garland; Carla Lee and Jesse Maddox, of Monument, Colo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dee and Keith Somerville, of Hamlin, W. Va.; and Leesa and Gary Thomason, of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Larry Dennis Rittenhouse IV; Angela Nicole Minkley; and Cora Vine Maddox; three nephews, Sam Somerville; Robert Rolen; Gary Rolen; and one niece, Sabrina Hight.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Larry Dennis Rittenhouse III, Kenneth Poovey, Jesse Maddox, Ricky Sewell, Sam Somerville, Jason Hight and Gary Thomason.
