ATHENS-A memorial service for Lola Urbanski will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013 at Park Highland Nursing Center, 711 Lucas St., Athens with Chaplain Donald Kile officiating.
She was born Oct. 4, 1932 in Malakoff, and died Jan. 19, 2013 at Park Highland Nursing Center, where she had resided the past six years.
Lola worked at Curtis Mathis Manufacturing Company as quality control inspector from 1972 until 1977. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member at Trinidad VFW Post 4133, and Auxiliary President at Athens VFW Post 7103 back in 1979 until 1980, always involved in charity work, and visiting area nursing homes.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motorhome to various parts of the country, visiting family and friends. Her hobby was wooden craft work, designing holiday decorations. There was never a dull moment sharing life with her husband Edward.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Eugene Webb, her mother Bessie Nemo Abbott and son Keith Lasater.
Survivors include second husband of 39 years, Edward Urbanski, Gun Barrel City, children by her first husband Jimmy Lasater, son Gene Lasater, Largo, Fla., daughters Glaudia Lee Gates, Conroe and Glenda Key Dashofy, Eugene, Ore., stepson Michael Urbanski, Seven Points, stepdaughter Victoria Rich, Cocoa, Fla., sister-in-law Josephine Adams, Tacoma, Wash., grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
