Bobbie Meeks, 73, passed away January 12, 2013 in Bowie. He was born August 29, 1939 in Exeter, CA to Spurgeon and Violet Tucker Meeks.
Bobbie graduated in 1958 from LaPoyner High School.
Bobbie served in the United States Air Force from July 1958 to June 1962, the United States Navy from August 1962 to August 1966, the Army National Guard of Texas from April 1978 to May 1990, and the United States Army Reserves from May 1990 to August 1999.
Bobbie started BARCO Heating & Air Conditioning Company in July 1973 and has been serving the community ever since. He also enjoyed ranching, gardening, reading and bowling.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Spurgeon and Violet Meeks, his son James L. Meeks and wife Antylia F. Meeks.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Polly F. Meeks, son John W. Meeks and wife Cindy, daughter Leslie D. Meeks, granddaughter Caedmon Meeks and grandsons Kylan Meeks and Bradon Meeks, one great-granddaughter, and sisters Shirley McCarty of Dallas and Barbara Curtis and husband James of Athens.
Visitation for Mr. Meeks was held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. at Shaw's Funeral Home. Funeral Services were Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Bowie with Lonnie Moore officiating, internment followed at Briar Creek Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted Shaw's Funeral Home.
