ATHENS-Services for Jerry Bellows, 69, Athens, formerly of Mansfield, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday at Eastern Hills Church of Christ with David Mahan officiating.
Burial will follow in Athens Cemetery.
Mr. Bellows died Jan. 17, 2013 at home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1943 in Bonham to the late Herman Taylor and Ora Bell Price Bellows. Following graduation from Vega High School, Jerry earned his Associate’s degree at Texas A&M. He served a 25-year tenure with Mansfield Independent School District as auto technology teacher and instructor at the Ben Barber Career Academy.
The auto technology division was honorably named Jerry Bellows Auto Technology Career Center. Jerry was recipient of Teacher of the Year Award in 2002.
Jerry Bellows was co-instrumental in organizing Bikes for Angels, a Mansfield program to gift bicycles to young people. The program gifted 423 bikes in 2012, and was dedicated to Jerry. Jerry retired to Athens in 2003, and became an active member of Eastern Hills Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, three brothers, David, Leo and Johnny, preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife of 46 years Lena Bellows, Athens; sons Jerry Don Bellows and wife Shana, Fort Worth, Curtis Glenn Bellows, daughter Kimberly Ann Clopton and husband Jason, Athens; grandchildren Ellie, Brittny, and Curstie Bellows, Austin and Aaron Clopton, numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers are Al Watson, Lynn Darling, Rick Curlee, Ted Kelly, Jackie Bishop, Jim Ferguson.
Honorary pallbearers include Rick Bellows, Butch Myers, Irvin Hall, Billy Lock, James Hale and Billy Buck.
“Cactus” will serve as Honor Guard.
Visitation for family and friends will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
