ATHENS-Services for Doris Browning, 85, Athens are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel with Bro. James Lamb Green and the Rev. Ray Goebel officiating.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Browning died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 in Athens.
She was born Sept. 24, 1927 in Dallas to George and Ruby Grace Fisher Bowman. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a secretary for many years for the oil and gas industry. She loved cooking, gardening and traveling. She cherished the trips to Lake City, Colo. Doris was a member of First Baptist Church many years.
Doris was preceded in death by parents, brothers Lewis Bowman and Clarence Bowman.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Tom Browning, Athens; daughters Georgia Akin, Tyler, Kathy Blackmon and husband Jim, Athens, Sally Holloway and husband Dale, Odessa; sisters Mary Frances McWilliams, Sue Frazier, Dallas, Betty Guyton, Athens; grandchildren Elizabeth Throop, California, Eddie Lehr, Crockett, Claudia Conley, Josh Blackmon, both of San Antonio, Brad Holloway, Frisco, Lindsay Hendricks, Plano, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Lehr, Kyle Hendricks, Josh Blackmon, Cory Lehr, Brad Holloway, Cody Lehr, Bobby Strain and Joe Lovelace.
Honorary pallbearers include Ramon Douglas, Buddy Akin, Carl Taylor.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
