ATHENS-Funeral services for Pauline Corley Callaway, 92, Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11 at First Christian Church in Athens with the Rev. Bill Hauck officiating.
Burial will follow in Shelby Chapel Cemetery where she will be among many family members.
Pauline died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 in Athens.
She was born March 7, 1920 in the community of Bethel, in Henderson County. She was the daughter of Jim and Nannie Corley. She eventually moved to Athens where she graduated from Athens High School in 1938. Pauline was a resident of Athens most of her life.
She married A.H. (Gus) Callaway in 1940, was a homemaker, and co-owned and operated the Callaway Food Store with her husband. In 1946, she joined the First Christian Church in Athens, where she was an avid member of the Christian Women's Fellowship. Pauline was well known for her homemade items sold at the annual church bazaar in November.
Later, she worked at Stirman's Jewelry Store on the square in Athens for 15 years, where she was a popular sales associate, getting to know almost everyone in town. She was recognized as a kind and caring person in both her personal and professional life.
Pauline was preceded in death by two young sisters, Odell Corley and Jewel Winifred Corley, brothers Bruce Corley and wife Lela Mae, John Corley and wife, Bonnie, all of Athens.
Survivors include her children: Carole Hunter and husband Neil, Athens; Sally Frentress and husband Carl, Athens, Jeff Callaway and wife Chelley, Kilgore. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shannon Harris and husband Steven, Austin and their children, Joshua and Ross; Hope Stevens, Brownsboro and her children, Lauren, Madison, Paxton and Gabby; Todd Hunter and wife Sherri, Kilgore and their children, Kylee and Kiefer; Gabe Frentress and wife Leslie, Athens and their children, Colten and Cassie; Corey Frentress, Athens; Jordan Callaway, Kilgore; Fallon Callaway, Kilgore; and Dennis Johnson, Kilgore. Pauline had five nieces and nephews including: John Brooks Corley, Athens; Debra Splawn, Athens; Craig Corley, Athens, Marsha Hoelting, McKinney and Mike Callaway of Hondo.
Pallbearers will be Gabe Frentress, Corey Frentress, Ross Harris, Steven Harris, Todd Hunter and Robert Stevens.
