The Athens Review
ATHENS-Charles “Alan” Roberts, 58, went home to be with the Lord on November 24, 2012. Alan was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma on June 18th 1954 to Charles Fletcher Roberts and JoAnn McMahan. He became a resident of Athens, Texas in 1976. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 1st at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.
He was greeted in his new life by his parents, his younger brother, Eddy Glenn Roberts, and numerous other relatives and good friends. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Blinda Roberts of Athens, Texas; his children, Corey (Debbie) Roberts of Culpepper, Virginia; Chris (Brandi) Roberts of Kemp, Texas; Crystal (Ely) Meyer of Athens, Texas; 12 grandchildren; his sister, Stephanie Snell; his brother, Tommy Roberts; and numerous special loved ones.
Alan lived in Texas, missed Oklahoma, and longed to be in the Colorado Mountains. He worked as a welder, a roughneck, and as a directional driller. He enjoyed the outdoors, road trips, and a good yard sale. He loved listening to music. Music was a huge part of his life, especially classic rock-n-roll and country tunes. He never met a stranger and he enjoyed helping others. He was known to his friends as “Al” and he was truly thankful for each and every person that was a part of his life. Most of all, he loved his family and felt blessed to be loved by them.
