The Athens Review
Susan (Sue) Carter died Oct. 11, 2013 at her home, a resident of Athens for almost three years. Sue was born May 4, 1938, and raised by her beloved parents, Esther and Chester Burnham. She was kind, cheerful and loved her husband, children and animals (dogs, horses, cattle and cats) dearly. She had a multitude of friends and never knew a stranger, seeing good in absolutely everyone.
Sue is survived by: her adored husband and best friend of 42 years, Weldon Harrold Carter; her beloved daughters, Pauline (Polly) Burnham Benton and husband Bill, Katherine (Katie) Leinhardt, stepdaughter Angela (Carter) Vincent-Bartlett and husband Edwin Bartlett; stepsons Charles Weldon Carter and John Carlton Carter; sister Sarah (Sally) Bair and husband Charles; nephew Charles, Jr. (Chip); grandchildren Emily, Stacey and Stephen Benton, Crystal and Jason Vincent; along with a myriad of extended family members and special friends.
A well-attended memorial service was held at Living for the Brand Cowboy Church, on Oct. 16 and graciously officiated by the Rev. Dale Perry.
Sue Carter will endure forever in the hearts of all who loved her.
