Callie Gunnels Simmons passed away on Nov. 10, 2013 in Waxahachie at the age of 79.
Callie was born on Sept. 19, 1934 in Trinidad to Jessie Lee Gunnels and Maudine Terry Gunnels.
Callie worked for the U. S. department of Education as Lender Review Specialist for 22 years in Dallas.
She is survived by her daughters, Karin Lucas, Beth Worley; stepdaughter, Cynthia and husband Dietrich Whisennand; granddaughters, Bethany and husband Chet Chambers, Heidi and Wilton Frier; grandsons, Christopher and wife Melissa Worley, Matthew Whisennand; brothers, Billy and wife Barbara Gunnels, Richard and wife Glenda Gunnels; seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Jessie Lee and Maudine Gunnels; husband, Mickey Simmons; sons-in-law, Greg Lucas and Jim Worley.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Malakoff. The Rev. Charles Kimble will officiate.
