Athens — Services for Lloyd Wayne McCarley, of Gun Barrel City, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Jordan and Troy Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Park.

Lloyd was born on June 2, 1941 in Eustace to parents Margie (Banks) McCarley and Loyd R. McCarley and entered into eternal rest on Sept. 13, 2013 at the age of 72. Lloyd was known as "Uncle Red."

He was a very family-oriented and held a special place in his heart for all his children and grandchildren.

Lloyd was a caring man and never met a stranger. Some might say an amazing giver. He was very witty, charming, tough but yet tender-hearted. 

He was raised in the Pearland - Houston area. He returned to the East Texas area in the early 70s with his family. For many years,  Lloyd owned and operated East Texas Tile and Carpet in Athens. He then owned and operated Movies, Etc. in Athens.  Several years later he then purchased Unlimited Movies in Gun Barrel City. After somewhat retiring, he began purchasing and selling real estate. 

Lloyd was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed deep-sea fishing on the coast. He also loved going to the casinos, gambling and playing Boo-Ray with his family. Lloyd was Baptist by faith and went to the Athens Life Fellowship Church. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his father Loyd R. McCarley and his sister Peggy.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 44 years, Faye; daughters, Lori DaSilva and husband John of Rowlett, Carolyn Leonhard and husband Rob of Marshall Town, Iowa, Toni McCarley Carey of Burlington, Iowa; sons, Rodney Crance of Nashville, Ga., Bobby Crance and wife Amy Jo of Phalba, Ernie Swindle and wife Julia of Lawton, Okla.; mother, Margie McCarley; sister Barbara Hedrick and husband Tony of Pearland; grandchildren, Megan DaSilva, Taylor Hackney, Carson DaSilva, Katrina Allman, Robert Leonhard, Mitchell Leonhard, Anthony Rooney, Emily Rooney, Tassie Bechtel, Cody Crance, Justin Crance, Laci Crance, Joey Crance, Ernest Swindle II, Amber Repasy, Elliot Swindle;d eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other loving family members and many friends.

Pallbearers will be: his sons, Bobby Crance, Rodney Crance, Ernie Swindle and John DaSilva; grandsons, Justin Crance, Cody Crance, Joey Crance and Charlie Newkirk.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Warrick, Ronnie Davis, Doug Landers, JJ Thomas, Gene Kupfner, Bill Clark and Harold Durham.
