Cornelius ‘Neil’ Regan

Athens — ATHENS- A Requiem Mass for the happy repose of the soul of Cornelius “Neil” Regan, 86 of Athens, will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Pancras Savarimuthu celebrant.

A Recitation of the rosary is scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel.

Burial will be in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas.

Mr. Regan died Aug. 17, 2013 at his residence.

He was born April 2, 1927 in Sterling, Ill. to the late Patrick Henry and Irene Shurley Regan. Neil had been a long-time resident of Dallas and had worked for the City of Dallas as Animal Control Officer. He had been a Boy Scout Master numerous years and awarded the St. George Emblem Oct. 23, 1980. He retired to Athens in 1986.

Neil was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church. He was a 4th-Degree Member and past-faithful Navigator and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus No. 10524.

In addition to his parents, Neil is preceded in death by nine siblings.

Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Ries Regan, Athens; son Daniel Regan, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter Therese “Terri” Regan Patterson, Arlington; grandchildren Kelley Patterson, Jonathan Bresee, Brandon Henderson, Jamie Regan; great-grandchild Benjamin Bresee; sister Leona Jurkens, Sterling, Ill.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home following the rosary.
