ATHENS-Graveside services and interment for Kenneth Lee, 83 of Athens are scheduled for 11:00 A M Monday at Athens Cemetery with Dr. Kyle Henderson officiating.
Services are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
Mr. Lee passed away March 24, 2014 in Athens.
He was born November 15, 1930 in Paola, Kansas to George Agusta and Jennie Isabel Hasty Lee. Kenneth retired after 25 years as Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. He served on destroyers, cruisers and air craft carriers. He was aboard the USS Forrestal when it exploded. Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church and had been a resident of Athens since 2005. He loved baseball and fishing. He was very active in Little League Baseball coaching. He always helped everywhere he resided.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters and daughter Debra Rene Lee.
Survivors include his wife Dolores Lee, Athens; daughter Becky Gillert and husband Mike, Athens; son Curtis Kenneth Lee and wife Susan, Jacksonville; grandsons Curtis Kenneth Lee, Jr., Jeremy Gillert and wife Cadey, Chris Gillert and wife Kourtney, stepgranddaughter Tonya Renee Pierce, great grandchildren Abby Eakin, Jillian Eakin, Sarah Pierce, Paige Gillert, Pipper Gillert, River Perkins, Landon Perkins.
