Malakoff – Funeral services for Gerald Costlow, 78, of Malakoff, were held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Athens, Texas with Bro. Derek Rogers officiating. Interment followed at Hopewell Cemetery in Bradford, Texas.
Mr. Costlow passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 in Athens.
Gerald Shelton Costlow was born September 20, 1935 in Anderson County, Texas the son of Ross Shelton Costlow and Geraldine Lois Pierce Costlow. He was a rancher and loved the outdoors, taking care of his horses and cattle. He was a volunteer firefighter in Malakoff for years before his retirement. Papa was a loving, hardworking family man who will be missed by all that knew him.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Lounell Costlow.
He is survived by his six loving children, Glen Costlow of Athens, Stacy Stroede and husband Robert of Kemp, Margaret Costlow of Malakoff, John Costlow and wife Jennifer of Corsicana, Donna Force of Palestine, David Costlow of Austin; six brothers and sisters, Kathleen Holcomb of Athens, Bob Costlow and wife Betty Lou of Palestine, Elizabeth Gregg and husband Raymond of Canton, Garland Costlow and wife Glenda of Kemp, Elaine Creamer and husband Sam of Seagoville, Gerry Costlow of Palestine; three grandchildren, Reagan Harris, Brooke Costlow, Randy Force and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving as Pallbearers were Cary Costlow, Terry Costlow, Ricky Lozano, Jeff Spivey, Phillip Surls and Breck Dodd. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer was Randy Force.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 5-7:00 P.M. at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.
