JoAnn Blanton Glover

Athens — Funeral services for JoAnn Blanton Glover, 70, of Athens, will be at 1 p.m., Friday at Church of the Living God with Eldress Mary Henderson officiating. Burial will be at North Athens Cemetery. Ms. Glover died March 19, 2014 at a local hospital.

Funeral arrangements were made through Garrett Tucker Funeral Directors.

JoAnn Blanton Glover was born Aug. 20, 1943 in Athens to the  parents of W.H. Blanton and J ohnnie Wilson Blanton.

JoAnn attended Athens schools, and graduated from Fisher High School in 1961.  She was a graduate of Texas Southern University.  She received her Masters Degree from East Texas State University, and later received her Mid-Management Certification as Supervisor of Special Education from U.T. Tyler.

Her work career began in Houston for NASA.  She was employed and retired from Athens ISD after 32 years.

She accepted Christ at an early age, and was both a faithful and active member of the Church of the Living God, PGT. Jo Ann served as a member of the Senior Choir, Ministers and Deacon Wives Council and GLOW Society.  She was an enthusiastic participant of the annual Men & Women’s Day festivities.

In 1967, she married Mr. John Glover.  To this union, they  had one daughter, Katrina Y. Glover.

Her parents, W.H. and Johnnie Blanton, two sisters Lorette Blanton Burks and Juliette Blanton Edwards preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband of 47 years, John Glover, Athens; one daughter, Katrina Glover, Tyler; one granddaughter, Jillian Glover; sister Hilda Ray (Cecil); brother, James Blanton; brother-in-law Hoover Edwareds; nieces Starla Ingram, Lovell Barker, Regina Edwards, Darla Ray, Dr. Charita Blakely, Marloette Blanton, Brittney Blanton; nephew Brandon Blanton; great-nieces Brooke, Paige, Whitney, Lexi, Sydney; great=nephews Jordan and DeDric; one aunt, Antionetta Wiley; a host of other relatives and friends.
