Athens —
MURCHISON-Services for Otto Hatton, 66, Murchison, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Chapel in Athens with Jim Atkins and Matt Sims officiating.
Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hatton died Sept. 25, 2012 in Athens.
He was born Jan. 5, 1946 in Henderson County to the late Ozie Otto and Roberta Carroll Hatton. As a young boy, Otto moved to Dallas with his parents, and graduated high school there.
He had a long career serving as store manager for various grocery stores including Beard’s Grocery in Tyler, Food Fare in Chandler, Minyard’s and Seven-Eleven.
After residing in Dallas 30 years, Otto moved back to his native Opelika Community in 1980, and was a member of Opelika Baptist Church. Otto worked with Boy Scouts of America 20 years, was a Scout Master and served a 10-year tenure as District Commissioner for Circle 10.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Leah Gay Berard.
Survivors include his wife Theresa Hatton, Murchison, son Ozie Otto Hatton, III and wife Crystal, Ben Wheeler, daughters Ronda Moore and husband Preston, Grand Saline, Sonja Gore and husband Jeff, Murchison, sister Jo Elaine Berry, Arlington, 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Circle Ten Boy Scouts of America.
Visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to Boy Scouts of America Circle 10 Council, 8605 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, TX 75235.
