Hulan Ray ''Big'' Allen passed away on Oct. 4, 2013 in Malakoff at the age of 77.
Allen was born on March 13, 1936 in Jackson Chapel to E.P. Allen and Willie Rushing Allen.
Hulan Ray “Big” Allen was known as the “insurance man” to many, and known to have often covered from his own pocket people’s insurance premiums when they were unable. He was a good man, loved by many and always had a smile on his face.
He passionately loved his family, friends, Longhorns and his Malakoff Tigers. He always gave a smile and a hello, with never a bad word to say about anyone. He loved to make people laugh, and could often be found drinking coffee in the morning with his friends or visiting around town. He certainly lived and loved like his nickname, “BIG,” and will be missed by many.
He is survived by: his daughter, Trisha and husband Wade Coker; son, Carman Allen; brother, Jack Allen; sister-in-law, Marilyn Allen; grandchildren, Morgan, Mason, Madison Coker and Parker Allen.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, daughter, Alisa Dawn Allen; brothers, Parker and Lit Allen; sister, Grace Emerine.
Visitation was held on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Huckabee/Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Malakoff. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Hayes.
