Barbara June Reed was born in Oklahoma City Nov. 25, 1935 to Paul Brockman and June May Webb Conner. She graduated from Perry, Okla. in 1954.
During high school she was an avid basketball player. and participated in beauty pageants. She married Herbert Reed Feb. 14, 1952, and after traveling around the U.S., moved to Athens in 1968.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, and was very devoted to her volunteer work, and even won the Unsung Hero Award in 2007. She was a loving mother and grandmother with a heart of gold who had a passion for baking and helping others.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herb Reed, son Paul Reed and brothers Gerald Conner and Kenneth Conner.
Survivors include son Randy Reed, Athens, daughter Sherri Almond and husband Billy, Hubbard, grandson Scott Adams and wife Katina, Brownsboro, granddaughter Vickie Maloch and husband Delwin, Malakoff, four very special great-grandchildren, brother Jack Conner, Athens, sister Shirley Gash, Fairmont, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Scott Adams, Delwin Maloch, Billy Almond, Jeff Conner, Rob Conner, Bobby McRee and Steve Funk.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday at Carroll Lehr Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Adair officiating.
Burial will follow in Malakoff Cemetery.
