Nelda Louise Donehoo Crecelius

Athens — Malakoff – Graveside services for Nelda Louise Donehoo Crecelius, 69, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at The Athens Cemetery with Larry Fondren officiating.

Mrs. Crecelius went to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, March 9, 2013 in Tyler, while being cradled with the love and devotion of her husband and children.

Nelda was born May 13, 1943 in Athens, the daughter of Horace Donehoo and Zephyr Skaggs Donehoo, where she spent most of her adult life.

Nelda married Tim R. Crecelius on July 10, 1965. She completed a degree in Cosmetology, and later completed an instructor’s license.  Mrs. Crecelius was a devoted and active member of the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens, and was sure of her faith in God, and lived her life as a wonderful example of morals and Christianity.

Nelda retired from Henderson County Tax Office as a Voter Registrar after nearly 30 years of service.  She enjoyed hobbies including cooking and homemaking.  She loved to grab Tim up and travel, and she did so extensively.  She absolutely loved nature’s beauty.   She enjoyed the bluebonnets on a warm spring day in the Hill Country, and the cool fall breeze, and changing colors of the leaves in the forests of the Ozarks.

There was nothing more important to Nana than family.  She was the matriarch of a loving family that will miss her spunk and personality.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Nelda is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 47 years, Tim R. Crecelius of Malakoff; two sons, Kelly Crecelius of Burleson,  Kelvin Crecelius and wife Leah of Athens; one brother, Gleynn Donehoo of Wink; one niece, Lori and husband Mike Warren of Wink,  six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.

Nelda’s family would like to give special thanks to the individuals who provided wonderful and special care at the Hospice of East Texas, with special appreciation to Missy, Amy and Rachel of Green Oaks Rehab Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donation made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens.
