Athens – Funeral services for Lottie Carter, 86, of Athens are scheduled for 3 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012 at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home of Athens with the Rev. Charles Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery near Athens.
Lottie Carter passed away Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 in Athens.
Ms. Carter was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Henderson County, the daughter of David Fred Carter and Lillie Mae Forester Carter. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Athens.
Lottie was a faithful caretaker, and lived her life for others. She loved gardening and quilting, and collected china and glassware. Lottie will be greatly missed by her family and friends
Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Melvin “Buck” Carter, Eddie Thomas Carter and a sister; Dovie Carter.
She is survived by her niece, Debbie and husband Joseph Martinez of Crandall, two nephews, David and wife Tammie Carter of Chapel Hill, Billy Don and wife Kathy Carter of Benbrook, great-nephews Will Carter, Jamie Carter, Luke Martinez, Aaron Martinez, one great-niece, Aimee Carter and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers will be David Carter, Billy Don Carter, Joseph Martinez, Will Carter, Jamie Carter, Luke Martinez and Aaron Martinez.
