Don Kennedy

Athens — MURCHISON-Services for Donald Ray Kennedy, 72, Murchison, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday at the Red Hill Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Tim Samples officiating.

Mr. Kennedy died Oct. 11, 2012 at home.   

He was born Nov. 11, 1939 in El Dorado, Ark. to the late Jesse Lee and Clara Leola Ratcliff Kennedy. Following graduation from Brownsboro High School in 1957, Don served in the U.S. Air Force with a foreign tour in England. He had a 40-year career as a petroleum landman.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Kennedy.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Kyle Lee Kennedy, M.D., Amarillo, grandchildren Ryan, Kendall, Keri and Kasey Kennedy, all of Amarillo, sisters Diane Wilkins, Sue Calvert and husband William, Joyce Estridge, all of Murchison, Norma Wilson and husband Ross, Wills Point, brother Chester Kennedy and wife Lurene, Murchison, brother-in-law Buddy Crutchfield, Murchison, numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Genesis Hospice Care, 201 St. Thomas Dr., Athens, TX 75751.
